At noon our estimated compound course and sailed distance of the last twenty-four hours was SW 5 ½ miles, which comes down to the estimated north latitude of 44°36′, longitude 6°4′. We found the actual north latitude to be approximately 44°24′. We steered to the SW by S. During the afternoon watch and the dog watch, the wind was between a double reefed topsail breeze and a lower sail breeze coming from the NW by W. The weather was squally. We furled the topsails. During the first watch and the middle watch the wind came from the same direction but decreased. The sea was high. We double reefed the topsails. We had a squally sky until morning.
