The idea for this blog is from the Zeeland Archives. The objective is to draw attention to archives in general and the archives of the Middelburgse Commercie Compagnie (MCC) in particular.
In 2011, UNESCO placed the MCC archive in the Memory of the World Register – the world heritage list for documentary works. Subsequently, Metamorfoze, a national program for the preservation of the paper heritage, honored the subsidy request from the Zeeland Archives to digitize the MCC archives.
Because the online offering of an archive does not automatically lead to more visitors, the Zeeland Archives decided to present one of the triangular voyages from the archives in the form of this blog. The weblog about the voyage of the ship The Unity was published day by day from October 1, 2013 to March 25, 2015.
