First mate’s logbook

It was rainy in the morning. Today a female slave gave birth. In the forenoon we gave the slaves bananas and in the afternoon we cleaned the ‘tween decks and the quarter deck and smoked them with incense and juniper, 2  sailing vessels with three or more masts; with a square rigged foremast and fore-and-aft rigged main, mizzen and any other mastsbarquentines came from above-river. During the night the weather was good, till morning.
