In the morning and forenoon there was no wind. At dawn we had the fortress of Elmina an estimated ½ mile NE of us. The water was 9 1 fathom = 6 feet (170 cm)fathom deep. In the afternoon we guessed ElminaGhanaElmina Castle to be 1½ mile NE and the in GhanaCommani 1½ mile NW of us. A gentle and normal topgallant breeze came from SW in the afternoon. The weather was good. At dusk we guessed Elmina to be 2½ mile NE and the fortress Commani 2 miles NW from us. Later at night the wind came from NW and we sailed to SW. A gentle breeze lasted till the morning.
