The wind was an average topgallant sail breeze from E in the morning. We had a squally sky with a gentle topsail breeze with rain. We observed a change in the water. During the forenoon we had the same wind and weather as before. We put the single rope in the mooring bower and the stream rope in the light stream anchor. Debris was floating on the sea. At noon our estimated compound course and covered distance of the last 24 hours was W 23½ miles, arriving at an estimated north latitude as before, NB 3º55′, longitude 339º7’ and we found actual north latitude to be 4º47’. Therefore we found that we had drifted 52º to the N. We set sail for WSW. In the afternoon we took the mooring bower from the bow and tied the bow ropes to the anchors. At dusk we gauged the depth of the ground at 35 feet. Mud and sand confirmed that there was a strong stream around the NW. Later at night the wind from ENE was gentle and mostly quiet. We had a squally sky with rain and we stayed at a depth of 30 feet. It stayed this way until the morning.
