On the 6th of this month a male slave died. As I retrieved him from below, I found no sense in him and discovered that he could not speak. I understood that he had been kicked. When I would touch his neck he would groan because he had pain there. After having first applied lines of laurel oil, I laid a protective band aid according to Vigo on the spot. I wetted the bandage with a deer antler spirit and I gave him some drops of that spirit as well. I also laid down a blistering plaster and tickled him with a plume in the nose. Nothing helped, and he died the next day.
