I, the undersigned, hereby declare to owe Petrus Henricus Coeperus, surgeon of the snow ship The Unity that is in service of the honourable directors of the Commercie Compagnie of the city of Middelburg, Zeeland,

a sum of 162 guilders, 11 shillings and 12 pennings because His Honourable left me his clothes as well as money in cash

because I, the undersigned, have been dismissed from my service of the aforementioned Company to stay here in Essequibo RiverGuyanaRio Essequebo by the captain Jan Menkelveld.

According to calculations, I, the undersigned, have given an obligation to the aforementioned Petrus Henricus Coeperus and humbly request that the honourable directors of the Commercie Compagnie of the city of Middelburg in Zeeland pay the aforementioned sum to Petrus Henricus Coeperus.

I shall oblige myself.

Thus has been done and has passed in Rio Essequebo this September 3rd anno 1762 in the presence of these two witnesses.
