There was a moderate topgallant NE breeze in the morning and forenoon and good weather. We dried some sails and bought a male slave, No. 5. An English a sailing vessel with three or more masts; with a square rigged foremast and fore-and-aft rigged main, mizzen and any other masts barquentine and two boats passed us, heading downwards. In the afternoon there was an ESE wind and we saw an English ships which were usually as long as a ship-of-the-line and were square-rigged on all three masts (full rigged), but were faster and with lighter armament, used for patrolling and escort frigate below.
