First mate’s logbook

In the morning the wind came from the land and the sea was high. The wind was, later throughout the day, a gentle and normal top gallant breeze and the weather was good. A Portuguese snow ship anchored here presently. We got the boat, filled with water, back on board. During the first watch a trade wind came from E with a stiff breeze and a bit of rain. Drizzling rain throughout the night until morning.
