The 2nd of this month Carel Hutte from Nijmegen complained to me about headaches and vomiting. Firstly I purged the body with a emetic. Since I found out that he had a febris intermittens, sporadic fever, I gave him a three scruple of a pulverized anti-fever (Prescription 5) for in the morning and the evening. Furthermore I gave him a mixture (Prescription 6) of which he had to take one teacup every three hours.
The 2nd of this month a sailor, Philippus de Voogd, came to me with complaints. He had headaches and felt thirsty and I concluded that he had an infectious disease. I purged the body with ten scruples of pills (Prescription 10) and a pulverized anti-fever (Prescription 5). But because he was also vomiting, I purged his body with a emetic, and afterwards with a laxative leaf. After that the vomiting stopped and the fever went away.
The 2nd of August, Cornelis de Hond, a sailor born in Willemstad, was nauseous, had an infectious disease amongst others, and a severe headache. I gave him pills (Prescription 10) and a mixture (Prescription 24) of which he had two swallow a spoonful every two hours. As he was very thirsty, I boiled him a barley drink (Prescription 14). He remained nauseous, hence I gave him a pulverized emetic. After this the vomiting and the seizures stopped.
