First mate’s logbook

In the morning and forenoon we had rain. In the forenoon our boat came back on board with water. At first we raised the anchor of which the rope was broken, that being the stream anchor. We quickly put it on the port side on the deck because the old rope had been broken three times already in this river and could not handle anything anymore. In the afternoon we had rain. During the dog watches and with ebb-tide we moored again and put the best-bower before the tide. Then at night we had showers till morning.
