In the morning and forenoon the wind came from between the WSW and W by S. There was a heavy storm, and quite some water entered the gunroom and around the pumps. At noon our estimated compound course and covered distance of the last twenty-four hours was 12 miles coming down to the estimated North latitude of 48°12′, longitude of 7°58′. During the afternoon watch and the dog watches there was a WSW breeze like before. During the first watch the wind decreased and we had a cloudy sky. We set our lower sails and steered before the wind. During the middle watch the situation was as before, with rain and a SW wind; it remained like this until morning.
