In the morning we had a stiff lower sail breeze coming from the WSW to W by N, with squalls. At the beginning of the forenoon we came about north and set the topmast shroud and bowsprits shroud on the port side. At noon our estimated compound course and sailed distance of the last twenty-four hours was E by N 1 ½ mile, which comes down to the estimated north latitude of 44°40′, longitude 9°10′. We found the actual latitude to be 44°31′. During the afternoon watch and the dog watches we had a lower sail breeze coming from the NW by N, NW and also NNW with rain squalls. At the outset of the first watch we came about WSW and the wind decreased with occasional rain squalls. We double reefed the fore topsail. During the middle watch, there was a Sail of which the surface area has been reduced two times in order to make the surface area smaller.double reefed topsail breeze and the weather was good. We double reefed the large topsail. The situation remained like this until morning.
