I, the undersigned Jan Menkenveld, commanding the honorable Commercie Compagnie snow ship The Unity, lying with the same at GuyanaEssequebo River,

declare with this to dismiss from service and to release Louis Bernard, born in La Rochelle, France, surgeon’s mate on aforementioned ship, to stay here in Rio Essequibo.

He has been in service of the honorable directors of the Commercie Compagnie in Middelburg, Zeeland, from October 2th, 1761 until September 3th, 1762, being 11 months and 1 day, for 18 guilders per month, which amounts to a sum of 198 guilders, 11 shillings and 12 penning.

Before departure with aforementioned ship said Louis Bernard has received two months worth of wages in cash. Therefore remains to be paid by the honorable lord directors of the Commercie Compagnie a sum of 162 guilders, 11 shillings and 12 penning to Louis Bernard, all of which can be received upon my arrival in the motherland.
