First mate’s logbook

In the morning we had a WNW wind. At sunrise we untied a sheet and the fore topsail. At the beginning of the forenoon we raised anchor and set sail. We made Bunkerbeds between decks on starboard and put 2 bread barrels into the cargo hold. From then we had a SW gentle topgallant sail breeze and a misty sky. At the start of the first watch we dropped anchor at 13 1 fathom = 6 feet (170 cm) fathoms of fine sandy ground with Barenzon to the N of us. Throughout the night there was a SSW gentle breeze and good weather till morning.
