First mate’s logbook

In the morning and forenoon there was an ESE and S by E mainsail breeze with a dark sky, drizzling rain and high sea. At noon we came about east. Our estimated compound course and sailed distance of the last twenty-four hours was W 2 ½ miles, coming down to an estimated north latitude as before, longitude 358°19′. In the afternoon we had a SSW stiff, Sail of which the surface area has been reduced two times in order to make the surface area smaller.double-reefed topsail breeze with squally skies and a high sea. We put two reefs in the large topsail and steered E. At the start of the first watch we took in the large topsail. There was a squally sky with a double reefed topsail breeze to the SSW, also SW and NO and a calm. We had a squally sky with rain. In the middle watch there was a NT to N average topgallant sail breeze and good weather till morning.
