First mate’s logbook

In the morning and forenoon the wind came from E by N and ENE and was an average topgallant sail breeze. The weather was good. At noon our estimated compound course and sailed distance of the last twenty-four hours was N½O 14½ miles, getting on the estimated north latitude of 23°24’, longitude 316°28’, with a found north latitude of 23°16’. During the afternoon and dog watches there was a NNE and NE topgallant sail breeze and a Sail of which the surface area has been reduced two times in order to make the surface area smaller.double-reefed top sail breeze. We had squally skies and to reefTo reduce the surface area exposed to the wind.put the reefs in the top sails. Then during the night the wind came from NE by N and ENE and was a topsail breeze as well as double-reefed topsail breeze. We had heavy, drifting skies till morning.
