The wind was an average topgallant sail breeze from ENE in the morning. At dawn we raised anchor and set sail. We sailed alongside the shore, measuring a depth of 4½ to 4 fathoms. During the forenoon an average topgallant sail breeze came from ENE and the sky was squally. We saw a corner to W by S and we got to a depth of 12 feet. We sailed alongside the shore for a bit and again got to a depth of nearly 4 fathoms. When The length of the watches was measured using an hourglass filled with sand. Each watch consisted of 8 half-hour glasses, marked by bells 6 glasses in the afternoon had run out we anchored at nearly 4 fathoms of mud. We had the corner to S by W½W of us and we had high water. Later in the evening and at night we had an average topgallant sail breeze and a stiff breeze from NE. Good weather with stiff showers and a bit of rain until the morning.
