First mate’s logbook

In the morning and forenoon the wind came from E and E by N and was a average Sail of which the surface area has been reduced two times in order to make the surface area smaller.double-reefed topsail breeze. We had high seas. At noon our estimated compound course and sailed distance of the last twenty-four hours was N½W 15 miles, getting on the estimated north latitude of 22°22’ longitude 316°22’, with a found north latitude of 22°26’. During the afternoon and dog watches the wind and breeze were as before. Then during the night the breeze became more quiet. The wind came from E by S and was an average topgallant sail breeze. We took the reefs from the top sails. Good weather till the morning.
