topsail breeze coming from the S by E to SE, and sometimes also a reefed topsail breeze. The weather was good. We put the single rope in the mooring bower. At noon our estimated compound course and sailed distance of the last twenty-four hours was NE 30 miles, which comes down to the estimated 48°45′ north latitude and 357°40′ longitude. We found the actual latitude to be 28°53′. We put the daily rope in the daily anchor. In the afternoon watch and the dog watches the wind was a decreasing breeze coming from the ESE to E. The weather was good. In the night the wind was directed to the ENE. With the end of the first watch, we came about SE. We had good weather until the next morning.
