In the morning the wind was gentle and calm, coming from the SW. At dawn we raised anchor and set sail, passing a depth of 15 to 10 feet. At 8 ‘o clock we remained at a depth of 9 feet of water and to the half-ebb. In the afternoon, at 4 ‘o clock and the start of the ebb we raised anchor and set sail with a moderate to stiff topsail NE to E breeze and good weather. We tacked between the river banks, with depths of 15 to 12 feet and again 3 1 fathom = 6 feet (170 cm) fathoms sticky ground. Here we dropped anchor. At evening, about 9 ‘o clock, the pilot guessed us to be before Demerarij. At night we had a stiff breeze from the NO by E to the ENE, till morning.
