In the morning and forenoon we had a NNE by ENE wind with a light topgallant breeze and good weather. At noon our estimated compound course and sailed distance of the last twenty four hours was ESE ½ S 5 miles, arriving at an estimated north latitude of 6º57’, longitude 2º39’. Our actual north latitude was 7º22’, saw a strong swirling currents. We had light NNE to NW airs during the afternoon, evening and night and mostly calm. Throughout the night there were heavy drifting clouds with a stormy sky and thunder and lightning till morning.
