In the morning an average topgallant sail breeze came from ESE and the sky was clouded. At dawn we raised anchor and set sail for SW at a depth of 4 feet. We continued to go W and we kept a depth of 4 to 4½ feet until the afternoon. A gentle topgallant sail breeze came from ENE. Today a male slave passed away, No.23. We steered the ship around the outside, arriving at a depth of 3 to 2½ feet. We sailed for N to reach a depth of 3 feet, and then to NNW to 6 feet. We could only see the shore for a little while. We steered for NW to 7 feet, then sailed for SW and kept the depth of 7 feet. During the dog watches it was stormy and at dusk we anchored at 7 feet of mud. Later at night an average topgallant sail breeze came from ESE to SSE and the sky was clouded until the morning.
