In the morning and forenoon the wind was a Sail of which the surface area has been reduced two times in order to make the surface area smaller.double reefed topsail breeze coming from the WNW to the NW with an occasional squally sky. We cleaned the ship and hauled up a range of the cable on deck, and turned around the daily cable. At noon our estimated compound course and sailed distance of the last twenty-four hours was NE by E 29½ miles, which comes down to the estimated 41°44′ north latitude and 345°52′ longitude. We found the actual north latitude to be 41°42′. During the afternoon and dog watches the wind was a double reefed topsail breeze coming from the NW, directed to the SW by W. The weather was good. During the night, the wind was a gentle as well as double reefed topsail breeze with squalls of hail, thunder and lightning and wind and rain. It remained like this until morning.
