In the morning and forenoon the wind was gentle and quiet from WSW by NE. We had squally skies with heavy rain and tacked back and forth. At noon our estimated compound course and sailed distance of the last twenty-four hours was NE by E 3 miles, getting on the estimated north latitude of 8°19′, longitude 319°55′. During the afternoon watch and dog watches there was a NE by ENE wind. The weather was gentle with an average topgallant sail breeze and showers. We came about N. Then during the night the wind was as before and we had squally skies with rain till morning.
