First mate’s logbook

In the morning and forenoon the wind was a reefed topsail breeze coming from the SW by S. The sky was cloudy with drizzling rain. We To enlarge the surface area exposed to the windreefed the topsails. At noon our estimated compound course and sailed distance of the last twenty-four hours was NE by E 33 ½ miles, which comes down to the estimated 33°55′ north latitude and 330°58′ longitude. We steered as before. During the afternoon watch and the dog watches the wind was a topsail breeze coming from the SW. The sky was cloudy. During the night the wind was a topsail breeze to stiff Sail of which the surface area has been reduced two times in order to make the surface area smaller.double reefed topsail breeze.
