In the morning and forenoon there was an average reefed topsail breeze coming from the NE by E. We reefed the topsails and applied resin to the masts and the bowsprit and put up main shrouds on the port side. At noon our estimated compound course and sailed distance of the last twenty-four hours was NNW⅓W 7½ miles, which comes down to the estimated 28°22′ north latitude and 320°12′ longitude. We found the actual north latitude to be 28°15′. In the afternoon the wind was a fresh topsail breeze coming from between E by S and ESE. The weather was good.
