In the morning we had a gentle breeze from WNW. At the beginning of the morning watch we lifted the two anchors and sailed a little bit further from the shore. When we hit 8 1 fathom = 6 feet (170 cm) fathom of sticky ground we anchored again, with the fortress NW by W from us. Later we got 2 canoes with water and throughout the day the we had a stiff breeze from the SW by S. The sea was high. In the afternoon we let the stream anchor drag again and let down the mooring bower. We assembled a water barrel. In the afternoon we drifted with both anchors to about 6½ feet of sticky ground. The wind decreased during the dog watches and the sea was still high. 4 glasses (in a watch)The length of the watches was measured using an hourglass filled with sand.
