We had a S wind in the morning. At dawn we gauged HarperLiberiaCape Palmas to the N by E of us. We received some canoes from Caap das Palma on board and bought 4 slaves: 1 woman, 2 boys and 1 girl, No. 58 and 61. In the afternoon we saw a ship coming towards us which sailed further along the coast. We raised anchor and sailed a little closer to shore: up to 21 1 fathom = 6 feet (170 cm)fathoms of sandy ground, with the Cape to the N by E of us. Throughout the afternoon, evening and night we had a SSW and S wind with a dense misty sky till morning.
