In the morning and forenoon the wind turned from W to N and again to ESE with trade winds of rain and a top sail breeze. Also a calm wind with heavy thunder and lightning. At noon our estimated compound course and covered distance of the last twenty-four hours was SE by S 7 ½ miles, coming down to the estimated north latitude of 7°39’ and longitude 1°49’. We could not get an actual north latitude. In the afternoon there was a SE top sail to light breeze and a heavily overcast sky. At the end of the afternoon watch we came about E and during the dog watches the wind turned ENE and we came about S. Through the night there was an ENE breeze and mostly a calm, overcast sky till morning.
