In the morning and forenoon we had a SSW to NW by N double reefed topsail breeze. The weather was squally with a lot of drizzling rain. We saw 2 other ships. At noon our estimated compound course and sailed distance of the last twenty-four hours was Z ½ W, which comes down to the estimated north latitude of 42°31′, longitude 5°9′. We steered to the SW by S. During the afternoon watch and the dog watches the wind changed from a double to single reefed topsail NNW to the N breeze. We saw several other ships sailing with and opposite to us. We To reduce the surface area exposed to the wind.reefed the topsails. During the night we had an average topgallant sail NNE breeze. We reefed the topsails. The weather remained good until morning.
