In the morning and forenoon there were light N airs. We put up the topmast shrouds and bowsprits shrouds in the back and front. In the afternoon our estimated course and sailed distance of the last twenty-four hours was SE by S 22 ½ miles, getting on the estimated north latitude of 10°57’ longitude 358°25′. We found ourselves at the true north latitude 10°49 and sailed SE. We stuck the heavy stream anchor, saw a lot of dirt adrift among a strong swirling currents. In the afternoon and during the dog watches the wind turned from N to WSW and again to NW. The wind varied from an average topgallant sail breeze to a dead calm, cloudy sky. At night it was dead quiet, with an occasional NW breeze. This lasted till morning.
