In the morning there was a lower sail breeze and a cloudy sky with rain. We To reduce the surface area exposed to the wind.reefed the main sail. In the forenoon the weather and the wind was as before. At noon our estimated compound course and sailed distance of the last twenty-four hours was ESE ½ E 7 ½ miles, which comes down to the estimated north latitude of 48°3′ , longitude 8°42′. During the afternoon watch , the dog watch, the first watch, and the middle watch, we had a lower sail SW and WSW breeze. There was a thick, squally sky with rain, until morning.
