We had a W to W by S gentle to fresh topgallant sail breeze throughout the morning and early afternoon. At noon our estimated compound course and covered distance of the last twenty-four hour was S 20 miles, getting on the estimated north latitude of 23°00′ longitude 355°5′ with a found north latitude of 22°55′. In the afternoon and dog watches we had a W and WSW wind, and later a NW, varying between a fresh topgallant sail to a stiff reefed topsail breeze with stiff squalls of wind and rain from the SW and NW. We also put one reef in the top sail. Throughout the night there was gentle topgallant sail NW breeze with heavily overcast skies morning.
