In the morning and forenoon the wind was a decreasing breeze coming from the SSE. The sky was cloudy. We set the main sail and the topsails and  removed a A portion of a sail rolled and tied down to lessen the area exposed to the wind.reef from the topsails. We untied the ropes from the bowers and the buoy rope. At noon our estimated compound course and covered distance of the last twenty-four hours was WSW ½ W 18 miles coming down to an estimated North Latitude 49°14′, Longitude 9°25′. We found the actual north latitude to be 48°58′. During the afternoon watch and the dog watches we had a reefed topsail to lower sail SSE to S breeze. We reefed the topsails and led the anchors on the bow.  During the night the wind was a stiff lower sail breeze coming from the S to WSW with a thick, squally sky and rain. At the end of the middle watch the wind came from the S. It remained like this until morning.
