First mate’s logbook

In the morning and forenoon the weather was good. We had our first auction and sold 80 slaves today. Today a female slave died, No. 33. During the afternoon the weather was good. Then we had the second auction and sold 40 slaves. Our captain also sold 21 slaves privately, but we kept a woman giving birth. We brought up the anchor ropes, took away the beds and brought the crew’s crates from the room from the gunroom to the ‘tween decks‘tween decks . Throughout the night the weather was good till morning.
